Our Community Involvement
Nanaimo Alliance Church partners with a number of community services, including Island Crisis Care Society, Crossroads Pregnancy Centre, and Loaves and Fishes Community Food Bank. Our church currently partners with Brechin United Church and Loaves & Fishes on Tuesdays, for their weekly Food4U program. There are many needs in Nanaimo, but we believe the best way we can support our community is by working together with those agencies that have specialized in addressing needs we as a church are unable to address on our own. Many people drop by our office asking for help. We direct them to the services we partner with, where they will find caring, generous help. We have no cash, food vouchers, or food/gas cards on our premises.
The NAC logo is intended to depict elements of our congregation’s mission, vision, and values. The colour segments represent people from many different backgrounds sharing vibrant life and joy in Christ. The overlapping circles represent the diversity of our faith community, as well as our Alliance commitment to the fourfold gospel (the term "fourfold gospel" describes the historic emphasis of the C&MA on the person of Jesus Christ: Jesus our Saviour, our Sanctifier, our Healer, and our Coming King). These circles are unified by the cross of Christ, which is central to all we believe, and which intersects with, and embraces, all who follow Him. The unique shape of the cross also suggests the latitude and longitude of the globe, symbolizing Jesus’ love and sacrifice not only for our congregation and city, but for our country and the whole world.
