Genesis 1:1-27

“Are you ready for a miracle? Ready as I can be!” were the opening lines to the main theme of the movie “Leap of Faith” where an elaborate scheme of faking miracles in a “revival” setting bilked people out of their money. Many today are skeptical about the existence of miracles, but Paul insisted that without miracles, there is no Christianity and no hope. Should you believe that miracles are possible? Find out as we continue with A Case for Christianity Series.

I Corinthians 15:14-18; Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy  1:31-11; Psalm 78:10-12, 32; John 12:27, 15:24-25; James 2:19-20; I John 3:16

TAKEAWAY
Two objections to miracles: natural law and primitive thinking

Summary:
1. The beginning of the universe is the first miracle and the scientific method cannot replicate it for study. Those who deny miracles are standing in one.

2. If God exists, miracles like the beginning of the universe and many more are easily explainable.

3. Christianity depends on miracles to be true, especially the resurrection.

4. Miracles alone do not create trust in God.

QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION
1. Are the number of miracles in the Church today more than you’d expect? Less? Or just right? Why?

2. In your own words, why do you think miracles alone do not make followers of Jesus?

APPLICATION
What do you think a Christian should expect when asking for a miracle? Why?

FOR MENTORING
If someone you were mentoring said they have doubts, but if they saw a miracle, they’d believe – what would you say?
